Ball check valves are a type of flow direction control valve, essentially ensuring flow passes through the valve only one way.  Pressure within the valve determines whether or not the ball "seats" and prevents flow.  Flow passes through the inlet and pushes the ball off the elastomeric seat.  Due to the shape of the check valve, the ball  can only travel far enough to ensure full flow through the inlet and around the ball through the outlet with a  minimal differential pressure.  When the pressure on the outlet side of the valve exceeds the inlet pressure, the ball is pushed in the other direction against it's seat, preventing the flow path from changing from outlet-to-inlet.  Ball check valves are often installed within vertical sections of piping to prevent liquid from flowing backwards when a centrifugal pump system is shutoff.  They can be used on the inlet side of pump systems which draw from a feed tank to help keep the pump head full of liquid and not flow back into the tank when the pump is shut off.  Unlike spring loaded check valves the cracking pressure (pressure required for flow to pass through the valve) is very low.

Our ball check valves are made entirely of non-alloy materials and thus are installed in water systems as well as aggressive liquid applications where an exotic alloy ball check valve would cost significantly more than our non-alloy version.  We offer our ball check valves in 1/2" to 4" sizes in PVC and CPVC materials.  1/4" and 3/8" sizes are available for PVC and the 4" size can be supplied with 6" connections if suitable for your flow rate.  Polypropylene ball check valves are offered in 1/2" to 2" sizes and PVDF ball check valves are offered in the 1/4" to 1" sizes.  All ball check valves are available with FPM o-ring seals and all except the PVDF ball check valves are also available with EPDM o-ring seals.
