The latest generation of PVC, CPVC, Polypropylene and PVDF butterfly valves by Hayward® are designed to replace heavy and expensive alloy valves. Plastic butterfly valves have no wetted metal components, eliminating corrosion issues and at the same time lowering the torque required (reduces the actuator size required). Plastic valves can weigh less than half of the equivalent size alloy valve, making them easier to install and requiring less support.
Butterfly valves are used for high flow rates and have low pressure drops. Applications typically include throttling and flow regulating. Our non-alloy butterfly valves are excellent for abrasives and slurries.
Hayward® offers two basic butterfly valve designs, the BYC and BYV series. The difference between the two are the pressure class and available features, with the BYC designed for commercial and light duty industrial applications. The BYV series is the heavy-duty industrial butterfly valve design having the most options.
If you require a material other than PVC/EPDM or have a higher pressure/temperature, select the BYV for sizes up to 12" or the BYB for sizes from 14"-24".
The BYV and BYB series are available with stainless steel lugs molded within the valve body and are specifically designed to replace alloy valves which are both heavier and more expensive.
The BYV and BYB series offer the ultimate in corrosion resistance having a 1-piece molded body design. These valves have a 72 spline interlock mechanism that provides 19 lockable stopping positions (every 5°) and a corresponding Cv value all by the actuator (lever or gear operated). The hand lever version has a UV inhibitor for demanding outdoor environments. The BYV series is offered with either lever or gear operator.
All
of Hayward's butterfly valves are compatible with actuators that
mount to ISO 5211 flange/stem drives. The navigation bar will
enable you to compare manual operated and actuator ready valve
configurations. If you order an electric or pneumatic actuator
with your valve, it will arrive factory assembled and ready for
installation.
We do have many actuator configurations and it might just be easier to contact us with your requirements so that we can provide a specific proposal for our application.
If you are not sure which butterfly valve is most appropriate for your
application, send us an
inquiry, we typically reply quickly, certainly within 24 hours.
