Brass Ball Valves

2 Piece Full Port Ball Valves made from Brass (Catalog Pages)

RB brass 2-piece NSF certified ball valvebrass actuator ready 2-piece ball valve

The RB series brass ball valves are available in both manually operated and actuator ready configurations.  They have a two piece design and are made from a hot forged brass which is sandblasted and not plated.  The body and cap are sealed with a thread sealant, with each valve tested for leaks prior to shipment.  This valve design utilizes a “free floating” ball principle. The ball is not fixed but is free to move with the line pressure. As a result, these valves are capable of tight shut-off with the flow in either direction or dead-ended, regardless of the position of the valve in the line. The downstream seat, which is opposite the pressurized side of a closed valve must carry the load exerted by the line pressure on the ball, while the upstream seat is subject to little load or wear. For this reason, it is sometimes possible to increase useful seat life by turning the valve end-for-end in the pipeline.

The standard chrome plated ball can be upgraded to 316SS if desired.  The stem is made from nickel plated brass and uses PTFE for the packing gland and washer.  Its blow-out proof design enables repairs during use to minimize downtime.

The pressure rating for valves up to 2" is 600 PSI and is only 450 PSI for the 3" and 4" sizes; both versions are suitable for up to 150 PSI of steam.  The working temperature range is -40F through 366F although freezing liquid within the valve may result in severe damage.

The brass used for the RB series consists of approximately 59% copper, 39% zinc and 2% lead, HOWEVER, we can provide lead free material (<0.25%) for an additional cost.  The standard with a lever handle as illustrated above and we can provide a T or oval style handle if preferred.  Other options include upgrading the steel handle to 430 stainless steel.  The standard ports are female threaded (FNPT) however we can provide M x F ports if desired.

The actuator ready design has a ISO 5211 mounting pad thus the actuator can be directly mounted to the valve without the need for a bracket or coupling.
