
Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is widely used for water disinfection, surface sterilization, and odor control. However, standard ball valves often fail prematurely in this service due to off-gassing. As NaOCl decays, it releases oxygen gas and forms salt crystals that wear against the valve stem seals, eventually causing leakage.
The Hayward TBH-Z series (Z-Ball) is specifically engineered for sodium hypochlorite applications. It features a "drilled diverting ball" that allows oxygen gas to vent to the pressure side of the system. This keeps the inner surfaces wet, significantly reducing crystallization and minimizing wear on the stem seals.
TBH-Z valves can be automated with electric or pneumatic actuators. When ordered together with an actuator, the assembly is provided at no extra charge (mounted, aligned, and tested). We can also supply the valve “actuator-ready” with the appropriate shaft coupling (9mm, 11mm, or 14mm) if you already have an actuator.
